The Genius TikTok Trick For Magnet

Nov 24, 2023Nov 24, 2023

No matter how small or large your kitchen is, it can be hard to find places to display your most-used items for easy access. Most people want to avoid messy-looking shelves and counters while also employing a system that allows them to see what they use most, such as spices, certain utensils, hand towels, and more. There are dozens of magnetic products out there for saving space; however, the only magnetic item in the room is usually your refrigerator. Thankfully, one TikToker has provided us with a simple, effective, and aesthetically pleasing hack.

All you'll need is some kind of metal sheet, heavy-duty double-sided tape, and peel-and-stick wallpaper to get started. When you put these three things together, you create a hidden storage solution. At first glance, it's just a cute backsplash that adds some interest to your kitchen, but, when it's put to work, it's a multi-tool that saves on counter space.

If the double sided tape doesnt hold, you can use construction gorilla glue. 🙌🏼 what do you think?? #diy #magnetboard #fundiy #diyfun #homeoffice #workfromhome

In the popular TikTok video, the backsplash is created with metal sheets from Home Depot. Though these are likely very strong and easy to find in various sizes for your kitchen, they aren't the only option. You can also complete this project with flat dollar store cookie sheets. Keep in mind, however, not all metal is magnetic. There are many types of metal sheets made out of different materials. The most inexpensive of them tend to be aluminum and tin, neither of which are magnetic. For this project to work, you should look for steel or stainless steel. Alternatively, you could bring a fridge magnet with you to the store to test the metal you're planning to purchase.

When you've got your metal sheets, flip them over to apply your command strips at each corner. Carefully apply the boards to your wall and press down where you placed your adhesives. Once they're secured to the wall, finish things off by hiding the sheets with a peel-and-stick wallpaper of your choice. Now, you have a unique and colorful backsplash that you can begin hanging magnetic items on, including shelves, hooks, shopping lists, and spice organizers.
